White Mountain Apache Tribe
Rural Water System EIS

Welcome to the public website for the White Mountain Apache Tribe (WMAT) Rural Water System Project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The United States Department of the Interior (DOI), Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) Lower Colorado Region is the lead federal agency, along with the WMAT, U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, as cooperating agencies.

Pursuant to the WMAT Water Rights Quantification Act (Act), the U.S. Congress authorized and directed Reclamation to plan, design, and construct the WMAT Rural Water System to divert, store, and distribute water from the North Fork of the White River for the use and benefit of the WMAT. The project will serve over 15,000 residents living within the boundaries of the historic Fort Apache Indian Reservation in east-central Arizona.
